The 7th Psychological Operations Group was established in 1965, succeeding the United States Army Broadcasting and Visual Activity, Pacific. It was constituted on August 19, 1965, in the Regular Army as the 7th Psychological Operations Group. The group was activated on October 20, 1965, in Okinawa and was inactivated on June 30, 1974, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. On October 30, 1975, it was redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 7th Psychological Operations Group. At the same time, it was withdrawn from the Regular Army, allotted to the Army Reserve, and activated at the Presidio of San Francisco, California. The group was reorganized and redesignated on September 18, 1990, as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 7th Psychological Operations Group. The location of the group was changed on September 15, 1994, to Moffett Field, California.
