President’s Message

 

Wishing everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year. At the September, 2102, Reunion the board voted on changing the name of the newsletter to “The Leaflet”. The changed seemed more appropriated as one of our missions as PYSOPERS was to produce, print, and distribute leaflets with information. This newsletter is our leaflet.

 

The Reunion of 2012 was held in September in Salt Lake City, Utah. Arlo Despain did an excellent job on putting the Reunion together. The hotel accommodations and all of the activities planned were excellent. Everyone that attended had a great time. I am looking forward to the Reunion of 2104. That Reunion will be held on the East Coast. The board is open to any suggestions for a location for the Reunion to be held.

 

During the business session of the Reunion all the current slate of officers were retained. New member Allen Byrne was appointed as a Trustee. John Cheney was looking into a possible name change of our web address and title “USAPOVA”. It is felt that doing a search for a PYSOP reunion organization the web does not include it in the search results and we are losing out on potential new members.

 

In the last newsletter there was mention of the formation of a Regimental Association. It was in the discussion stage and nothing further developed from it. A new interest by several individuals at Fort Bragg was developed and a coalition was form. I will keep the membership informed of any further development and if it does become a reality.

 

I would once again thank Henry Bast for his efforts in raising $1500. this past Holiday Season. The money raised goes to soldiers and their families who are in special needs at Christmas.
